STATEMENT
I’m interested in mark-making -- the particular way a particular instrument makes a particular mark when used a particular way.
I’m interested in immediacy, a feeling of the fleeting captured on paper. A certain rushed quality or imperfection or at least un-fussiness that somehow comes to feel finished or stable after being put down.
I’m interested in wavering lines -- the hand of the artist on clear display: Scribbles and hitches and overshoots and obliterations.
Sometimes I like to observe the world and draw things I see in it. Other times I prefer to draw from memory or my imagination.
I’m interested in masculinity and sex, bodies and faces, plants and flowers, the overlap between the sad, comic, beautiful, vulgar and absurd.
